A Few Things…

Firstly…

A special thanks to everyone who entered the Super Food Ideas giveaway.  The winner is Hannah from Wayfaring Chocolate.  Congratulations Hannah.  Your prize is making its way out to you.

Secondly…

For a number of reasons I have had to instal the Disqus commenting system on my blog.  I’m having a few teething issues and am regularly firing off emails to the Disqus ‘help desk’ division.  I’m in the queue waiting for them to get back to me about a few things, the most urgent of which is the fact that when all you lovely people leave a comment I can now only see your email address and not your URL.  This is making it really difficult for me to leap over to your blogs especially in the situation where I might receive a comment from ‘Cathy’ and I know Cathy has a blog and is a blogger but I can’t remember the name of it and therefore can’t visit her.  If you’ve noticed my absence on your site, please include your URL as part of the comment and we can become reacquainted again.

Thirdly…

Over the past few months I have been awarded the Versatile Blogger Award no less than five times by different bloggers.  Thank you so much!  I am very honoured and really grateful to be recognised by so many of you.  It’s now very embarrassing for me to have to advise that because I let time slip by and then because the awards started coming in thick and fast, I now can’t remember who awarded me.  Awkward!

I do know the first to award me ‘Versatile Blogger’ was Eva from Kitchen Inspirations.  Thank you so much Eva.  Eva is from Canada and I discovered her blog about a year ago and we have decided we want to be ‘virtual neighbours’.  Eva’s blog is gorgeous to look at, beautifully written with style and charm, full of interesting and varied recipes and she takes the time to leave wonderful, warm and witty comments on your blog.

I was also awarded ‘Versatile Blogger’ by Deeps at Naughty Curry.  Thanks Deepthi!  Deepthi lives in India, is a vegetarian and writes a food and travel blog.  Her recipes are varied and often surprising like these multi-coloured ice creams she recently posted.

Recently I was awarded ‘Versatile Blogger’ by CJ at Food Stories.  CJ is from the West Coast of the USA and is a new blogging friend.  She believes there are stories that go with food, that food  can trigger memories and is also intrigued by how different cultures enjoy cooking certain foods on special holidays or religious events.  Above all else, CJ believes in the importance of eating a well-balanced and nutritious diet. If you have a food story,  CJ invites you to guest-post on her site.

Mireia from Baking in Spain is another blogger who awarded me Versatile Blogger.  Mireia and I have been blogging friends for a few months now.  Mireia blogs from Madrid, is a student studying business and has spent time studying in Dublin.  Mireia sounds really busy but she manages to cook wonderful recipes and share them with us.  I find her cooking to be amazing.  She presents her food really well.  Her latest post has some incredible cupcakes where she has piped the frosting beautifully.  She is a talented writer and posts in English and Spanish!

Now of course there are others of you who have awarded me Versatile Blogger so do remind me so I can properly thank you and update this post.

Part of accepting the award is to let you know seven things about me that you probably don’t know and this is a challenge seeing in every post I seem to be going on and on and on about myself but here goes:

  1. Stating the obvious, I’m vague and forgetful.
  2. I have two dogs, Ruby and Rosie, also known as Greedy and Needy.
  3. When I was nine I announced to my mother that I would be the tallest of her five daughters and I am.
  4. I thought about blogging for three years before officially getting started.
  5. I was a synchronised swimmer and could do the splits in the water – certainly couldn’t now.
  6. I married the first boy who asked me.
  7. I believe in miracles.

The big one's 'Greedy'

I now need to forward this award onto another deserving blogger and I’ve chosen Anna from The Shady Pine.  Anna is from the Blue Mountains in Sydney and is relatively new to blogging.  Her blog is attractive and her writing well written.   Her recipes are varied and interesting and perfectly executed.  You can tell she is creative with great flair and she shows enormous attention to detail.  Congratulations Anna, enjoy your award.

And lastly…

I wish all the mums a wonderful and amazing and restful Mother’s Day.

  8. Congratulations with the awards. You have a fun blog going, and it’s very well deserved. I certainly enjoyed reading the seven things about yourself. Two questions arouse though: How did you manage to accomplish your goal in # 3? And to # 6; would anyone who asked you first have gotten the same answer?

  9. Barbara at winos and foodies says:

Congrats on your award. Your dogs are gorgeous Charlie.

  10. I awarded you too 🙂 bakinginspain.blogspot.com

  11. Congrats Charlie – by the way, if you ever get annoyed with Disqus, there’s another comment system called Intense Debate which is actually owned by Automattic, the same company who own WordPress. It’s pretty good 🙂

  12. Congratulations on all of the awards Charlie! All well-deserved I might add. 🙂 Happy Mother’s Day to you. I hope it’s an amazing day, spent uninterrupted with all of your babies. 🙂

Nice getting to know you further Charlie! My daughter used to be obsessed with synchronized swimming, but after several seasons of lessons she still can’t swim a stroke:)

  17. Cute puppies!

  18. Congratulations on your awards, Charlie! I definitely think you deserve them. And I understand your concerns about keeping “all of us” straight. I’ve had trouble commenting on your posts from my iPad. No trouble at all from the computer, but I read one day, and sometimes come back to let you know I’m reading. That may be more the iPad’s problem then your Disqus. It will all get worked out eventually! Who knew before we started this crazy blogging life that we’d even care…ha! I love your answer about believing in miracles…me, too! Debra http://www.breathelighter.wordpress.com

  19. Yay me!! Thank you Charlie 🙂 Your dogs are making my heart hurt with so much wanting. And oh, to have been able to marry the first boy I dated… but now, that would have been VERY bad 😛

  20. Interesting to hear you’re trialing Disqus – I used to have it but reverted to Blogger when they allowed me to reply to comments. Disqus had a few benefits I miss though, so I’ll be interested to hear how you find it.

Great to read more about you too! And very cute dogs 🙂

  21. Lorraine @ Not Quite Nigella says:

Hehe Greedy and Needy is hilarious! And nothing wrong with marrying the first boy that asked you,it sounds like you and Carl are very happy! 🙂
