All-Bran Fibre Toppers

Sponsored by Nuffnang

Kellogg’s All-Bran is a cereal that has been around for a very long time.  When I was growing up we always had a box of All-Bran in the pantry.  We would be given a bowl of All-Bran for breakfast that was topped with fruit, yoghurt and cream from the top of the milk bottle.

Apple and Blueberry Crumble

Kellogg’s All-Bran is now launching a new product called All-Bran Fibre Toppers that are made from natural wheat bran, oat fibre and psylium.  They are an excellent source of fibre that contribute towards a healthy digestive system.  These All-Bran Fibre Toppers are low in fat and very high in fibre and have the Heart Foundation tick of approval.

Kellogg’s has suggested that enjoying All-Bran Fibre Toppers once a day for seven days will have you feeling ‘bran’ new.  They have asked me to take part in the All-Bran 7 Day Challenge and I’m looking forward to sharing with you how I feel once I’ve completed the 7 Day Challenge.

I’ll be enjoying my All-Bran Fibre Toppers on top of a bowl of fresh fruit and reduced low or no-fat yoghurt but these All-Bran Fibre Toppers have many uses beyond being just a great start to the day.  The All-Bran Fibre Toppers have been designed to be extremely versatile.  They can be sprinkled on fruit, salads and desserts and they are great to cook with.

Here’s a simple recipe I created using All-Bran Fibre Toppers:

Apple and Blueberry Crumble:

Serve with low-fat cream, ice cream, yoghurt or custard!

Serves:  6

Degree of Difficulty:  2/5

Cost:  This is an inexpensive dessert that can be enjoyed by the whole family

  • 800g canned apples
  • 300g packet frozen blueberries
  • 3/4 cup All-Bran Fibre Toppers
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats or flaked almonds
  • 60gms butter or margarine

Pre-Heat oven to 180C.

Pour pie apples into a baking dish.  Scatter blueberries on top.

Combine All-Bran Fibre Toppers, flour, cinnamon, brown sugar and rolled oats/flaked almonds in a bowl.  Mix well.  Add butter or margarine and rub in with fingers until well combined.

Scatter crumble over the top of the fruit.

Place in oven for 30 mins or until golden.

Serve warm with reduced fat ice cream, custard or yoghurt.

Looks like a nice easy recipe, and looks delicious as well. 🙂

  2. This looks delicious! I love a good crumble. I’ll be curious to see how you feel when you’ve completed the challenge. 🙂

  3. I second Kristy, I love a good crumble. Looking forward to the outcome of your 7 day trial

  4. I like the idea of adding these to a crumble topping! I must admit I’m not much of an All Bran fan (tastes like cardboard to me 😛 ) but if you add it to something else it would be much better 🙂

  5. Magnolia Verandah says:

Sounds good might have to give this “bran” challenge a go too I need to feel “bran” new.

  6. I don’t think i could find these in Spain… what a shame!

  7. I keep seeing the toppers and resisting buying yet another cereal for my already full cereal shelf…but you may have just wiped out all of my remaining willpower 🙂 I do like the look of them. I also like the look of this crumble!

  8. Yummmm That looks awesome. I have seen these toppers on other sites, but you have just totally convinced me to buy them and try them with your crumble. xx

  9. Ohhh I ve seen the blogs for them 😉 looks very healthy and love how you ve come up with such an easy recipe! Gonna go buy a box of the All Bran Toppers ~~

  10. I rarely eat cereal in the morning so I love finding other uses for it! this crumble looks majorly tasty!

  11. Great use of cereal. Meanwhile, this also serves as a reminder that I have to make my oat bran muffins this morning.

  12. One of my favorite desserts as a kid was blueberry crumble. This looks much easier to make. Thanks for the recipe. Isn’t cereal a great ingredient? My mom swore by Kellogg’s corn flakes as the crust for baked chicken. It was so delicious. Good luck on seven days of fiber;)

  13. Incorporating some grains into a dessert by using cereal is a great idea. Some of the grains I am not so receptive too when thinking about just cereal and milk. However, you have proven that there cereal can be a very versatile ingredient. Well done!

  14. Congrats to you on being singled out by Kellogg! We once went to their museum in Michigan called Cereal City. We were in Battle Creek for a gymnastics meet, so we had to check it out.

  15. Congratulations, Charlie, for being chosen! The crumble looks delicious. Sometimes I actually prefer whole wheat flour in crumbles… so I can imagine how good it tastes. I’m looking forward to read more recipes with this product.

  16. I tried all bran once (or few times) and I think I ate it the wrong way, it was really dry. A branble (bran crumble) sounds like a more interesting approach for consuming it

  17. I love Kellogg’s All-Bran Cereal and definitely notice a difference if I don’t have it. The toppers are a great addition to a pantry, certainly much healthier than a traditional crisp topping. Congrats on Kellogg’s asking you to participate.

  18. You had my heart when I saw the crumble.

  19. seems so delicious… I loved it. Thank you dear Charlie, I took note… Have a nice day, with my love, nia

  20. I’ve heard of using All-Bran for a crisp but never tried it myself. Looks delicious!

  21. I read this recipe and instantly thought about tossing it on the grill and adding a little smoke to the equation. Sounds awesome and hope you’re feeling “bran” new. 🙂

  22. I used to make All Bran muffins, but haven’t thought of them in years! Thanks for sharing this recipe, Charlie. What an easy and healthy idea to perk up a crisp at this time of year when so many berries are fresh here in Mexico.

  23. I didn’t know Kellogg’s were launching this new product so thank you for letting us know Charlie :). And I agree with you wholeheartedly, this needs to be eaten with some ice cream 😉

  24. I’ve actually had this All-Bran and it’s rather tasty.

  25. I keep a box of All-Bran in my cupboard at all times…just in case of need!!!!!!!!!!

  26. I agree with Kay. Serve this warm with a scoop of ice cream and it’s heaven on a plate. Congrats & good luck with the Challenge, Charlie. I’m looking forward to hearing how you fare.

  27. Well of you put it that way, who wouldn’t be willing to add a little bran to their day! This recipe looks great.

  28. Great idea of using bran as topping…and yes, I want mine with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream 🙂
Thanks for this recipe and hope you are having a fabulous week!

  29. Looking forward to hearing how it goes for you, the recipe would sure make anything tasty 🙂

  30. Your crumble looks great, Charlie! My mom used to make the most amazing muffins out of All Bran, and you could scoop out the dough from the ice box when you needed it for a few days worth of baking and fresh muffins. They had raisins in them and maybe apple, but they were really good, filling and bran-ish! Congrats and good luck with your challenge!

  31. I’m loviong the looks for these! I could certainly use more fiber in my diet… if ya know what I mean… 😉

  32. I can certainly vouch for the All Bran Crumble.. It was delicious, and yes I had it with a good scoop of ice-cream!

  33. Haha, I’d always buy All Bran and eat a few bowls and feel all good about myself for eating healthy breakfasts, and then there it would sit, going stale and unloved. Nice to have another use for it because I actually like the taste a lot and it makes me sad to see it just sitting there. Cheers Charlie 🙂

  34. Yay another way to use them! I still have a whole box left.

  35. I’ll be following your progress with interest. Congrats on the award nomination. xxx

  36. Ooh I do like all bran. Fab recipe 🙂

  37. i love kellogg brans too 🙂 they’re so healthy and delicious!

  40. Looks good. I used them the other day as a coating for chicken (with some Panko crumbs).

  41. I love all bran cereal, this new cereal I bet is pretty delicious! Love that you added it to a delicious fruit crumble:-) Apple and blueberry together is such a great combo! Take care, Terra

  42. It sure looks good! When I was a kid, I was the only one in the family that actually liked this cereal..
    Hugs!

  43. I have loved All Bran for as long as I can remember, and have often been known to microwave a bowl of it into a hot sludge 😛 This crumble is definitely more aesthetically appealing.

  44. Now, that’s a convenient way to get more fiber in the ol’ diet. Looks like a delicious way, too.

  45. Scrumptious crumble. Great challenge you got going there with Kelloggs – look forward to reading about your 7 days.
    🙂 Mandy xo

  46. Oh we have always sprinkled All Bran on the children’s cereal, they call them ‘poo sticks’ as my way of explaining why they are good for them, they now eat them like lollies, dry, i know (aged 8 to 13) but talk about super bowels!!
I’ve seen these on television, sound fabulous, love Posie

  47. We love streusel cake…this looks splendid!

  48. Mhh this sounds delicious and very creative! I like the flavour of whole grain so this sounds like something I’d thoroughly enjoy. 😉
