It really can be quite “hit and miss” but I think you were extremely lucky to stumble on Amelie straight away … sounds like a fantastic venue!

Our French experience in NYC has been limited to Balthasar’s and one in the LES, and both are cold and standoff-ish. I love the sound of your service. The flight glasses look like full portions!
