Delassant Candles and a Giveaway

There are a lot of good things about blogging and one of them is having beautiful products arrive on your doorstep.  Recently a box from a local Sydney business called Delassant Candles arrived at my front door.  Delassant is a French word meaning, ‘relaxing’.  This box sounded good before it was even unwrapped.

When I opened the box immediately a beautiful fragrance filled the room.  I was also struck by the beautiful and elegant presentation of the products with the antique-white boxes tied with black satin ribbon.

Delassant Candles is a company that makes 100% soy candles and the range has now been extended to include soaps.  I know a lot of us love to burn candles in our homes but I didn’t know the benefits of burning candles that are 100% soy wax.

Soy is renewable, sustainable, biodegradable, clean, non-toxic and non-carcinogenic.  It’s therefore the right choice for the health conscious and those concerned about the environment.  The soy used by the Delassant company is free from toxic materials and genetically modified materials so is a very natural product.

Soybean candles are very different from paraffin candles in that paraffin is the toxic residue from petroleum refining.  Soybean wax candles burn 30-50% longer than paraffin wax candles, making them more economical.  They’re also water soluble, making it easy to clean up with just soap and water.  Soy also burns at a lower temperature than paraffin so it is much safer to use; if melted wax spills on your skin it will not give you a burn!  And in terms of presentation, soy wax produces a smooth and creamy finish.

At Delassant, the candles have a burn time of approximately 70 hours.  They are heavily fragranced, releasing scent to fill your room until the very last bit of wax is burned.  While using only premium soy wax, they also only use the finest quality oils from around the globe.

All the candles are hand-poured into Italian glassware.

From their petite collection I received a candle, ‘Christelle’, that comes with a black metal lid.  Christelle is made up of a zesty citrus blend that combines lime and mandarin with basil and a fresh mix of herbs.  The burn time of this candle is 50 hours.  I wish you could smell it.  I love citrus candles because they freshen the air in the home.

From their Classic Delassant range I received a candle called ‘Provence’ that says it will give me ’70 hours of happiness’.  I’m looking forward to that!  Provence is a fresh and tantalising fusion of creamy coconut and zesty lime verbena blended with luscious vanilla.

I also received a box of 12 tea light candles in four different fragrances including Gardenia, Japanese Mimosa, Mademoiselle and Monsieur.  I think these would make a wonderful gift.

The company also makes soaps and I received a hand and body bar in Parterre fragrance.  ‘Parterre’ means ‘exotic floral garden’ and this describes the scent of the smooth, white, hand and body soap that is made from nourishing cocoa butter and vitamin E to gently cleanse and moisturise.  It’s been designed with a unique square shape to fit perfectly into your hand.

The liquid soap, Citrine, is fragranced with extracts of sweet orange and grapefruit seed oil.  I think the refreshing fragrance of this soap makes it the perfect choice to have on-hand in my kitchen.

  7. The last time I burnt candles at my house we had had no power for 16 hrs and I wanted some light in my bedroom before I went to bed. Everything from the ridged red ones we used on our Christmas table to the elegant white tapers that my mom bought for the Easter table were set alight at the same time. One of the candles was a homey apple and cinnamon scented one in a swing top glass jar which was a gift from my SIL.
