Rosie the Actress

The artist, Bennett Miller has been in Sydney creating a performance artwork titled ‘Dachshund U.N.’ outside the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA).  My two dogs, Ruby and Rosie eagerly (well not necessarily) auditioned for roles and both were selected.  They were thrilled to be selected (well not necessarily) and today had to front up to the MCA and ‘perform’.  Ruby was selected to represent Nigeria and Rosie represented Saudi Arabia.

In total, 47 dachshunds were selected and the idea behind the performance art was that it shows the utopian aspirations of the United Nations as a risk management organisation.

The weather today could have been a little more kind.  When will La Nina end!  Torrential rain is an understatement but you will be pleased to know, tiny black umbrellas were provided for all dachshunds cast.  (But they still came home drenched smelling of wet-dog).

I just had to show you a photo of Archie supporting Rosie in her break-through role.

Miss Saudi Arabia

I see dollar signs.

This has to be the start of a very successful career.

  1. How UNBELIEVABLY CUTE!

  2. Green Dragonette says:

And to think we knew you when you simply blogged…roll on your fame!!

  3. Rosie looks significantly less enthusiastic than Archie does.  I do see some acting (or money) potential, but it might not be with Rosie.  Has anyone ever told you that Archie looks like a slightly better-looking Leonardo DiCaprio?

  4. You definitely have TWO cuties in that picture, albeit wet ones. Good luck on the acting careers. 🙂

  5. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I agree with that other commenter who says you have TWO cuties in the picture!

PS.  Wonder if I could get the pups paw prints aka autographs now before they are famous as I am sure I could sell them for millions in a couple of years time…

  9. Choc Chip Uru says:

  12. I don’t know which is cuter, Rosie or Archie.  🙂  What well behaved dogs to represent big countries.  LOL

I think you might be on to a winner. (well not necessarily).

This very well could be the start of something big for Ruby & Rosie. After all, Lassie wasn’t always Lassie. She, too, had to start somewhere. And that pic of Archie with Rosie … er … I mean Rosie with Archie is as good a place as any to start.

  24. the only cin says:

    Hearty congrats to the hounds!

  25. This is so very funny – I am giggling as I type. Dog umbrellas?! Miss Saudi Arabia?! Oh how I wish I could have been there. I hope you get some stardom and monetary rewards for your famous doggies 🙂

  27. Hi Charlie, oops, I think I pressed unlike on my phone, sorry, it’s not overly clear.
What a handsome pair, I do hope Rosie’s career takes off. Did you meet the artist? It’s very cool to be part of such an installation.
We’ve also had some torrential rains, here in Toronto and a couple of times in NYC. My garden is growing like a jungle!

Oh dear, Rosie got the part but Archie missed out! Maybe next time? 🙂
I’ve been spending my time off teaching my cat tricks, were up to number 4 so far, maybe she could make me my fortune!

  32. Cha ching! Cha ching!

  33. So lovely… 🙂 Thanks and Love, nia

  34. Rosie is very cute, but I am not sure what a Saudi Arabian dachshund is supposed to look like.  Maybe she needs some fashionable Arabian wear? 🙂

  35. Oh my goodness! Now here’s something I wouldn’t have anticipated! Dachsunds For Peace…or something like that? I had Doxie’s as a child and so did my grandparents. I’ve always been a little partial. Mine were extremely temperamental, but they were always very sweet. Very handsome picture of Archie with Rosie. Maybe she was also selected because her “handler” photographs well? Debra

  36. Charlie … You’re gonna be rich 🙂

  37. Cut so cute

  38. Waw, great for your 2 dogs! I love the picture of your son with your dog Rosie, the star to be,…!! 🙂
