My Mom told me that I burst into tears the first time I saw a black person on a flight from NYC to Toronto; I was only about 3 months old. I’m glad Alfie’s experience was so good he wants to return. I’d like to go some day, but the flight would kill me, I’m certain of it.

Today I live in a city of 23,000 with a diverse mix of immigrants from Somalia, Sudan, Mexico, Southeast Asia and more. Unfortunately, not all locals embrace our diverse population. If only they could take a few lessons from Alfie (not the fear part) in friendship.
