Coco Chocolate Christmas Chocolates

I was in the kitchen last night marinating some chicken for the barbecue.  Listening to the radio as I pounded lemongrass with a mallet, I heard a song come on the radio.  It was, I Saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus.  As we were still officially in the first week of November, it stunned me that I was listening to a Christmas carol with still so many days before December 25.

But it’s not really all that shocking because I’ve worked out there’s now only six Sundays until Christmas Day and in just over three weeks our house will be on the countdown.  Our boxes of Christmas decorations will be brought out from the cupboard under the stairs, we’ll have the front of our house decorated in fairy lights, there will be a welcome wreath on the front door,  I’ll fill a bowl full of Christmas-scented potpourri, there will be paper hand towels decorated with Christmas scenes placed in the bathroom for guests and while I bake Christmas cakes I’ll be burning Christmas-scented candles.

There will also be advent calendars.  And last week I found a stunning advent calendar on facebook that’s made by Coco Chocolate.  I loved it because not only is the chocolate organic and fair trade, these beautifully decorated chocolates that depict nostalgic Christmas scenes are absolutely a work of art.

I shared the advent chocolate box on my facebook page and Rebecca, who is a chocolatier and the owner of Coco Chocolate, was so grateful for the ‘share’ she sent me a box of these chocolates as a thank you gift.  I was thrilled to come home and find this beautifully presented package at my front door.

The advent chocolate box makes a fabulous dinner party gift or a very special advent calendar.  The chocolates are arranged in an abstract pattern so each morning you need to hunt for the chocolate of the day.

Just a few of the scenes depicted on the chocolates are a partridge in a pear tree, a drum for a drummer boy, the Star of Bethlehem, a reindeer, a snowman, a dove, a Christmas pudding, a stocking, and Jesus in the arms of Mary.  All almost look too good to eat.

  1. Thank you very much, enjoy and Merry Christmas x

  2. wow how beautiful – I saw my first christmas tree as we were out driving today so am not surprised that these are on your mind

  3. I would battle eating such beautifully crafted chocolates.
    Have a wonderful week ahead.
    🙂 Mandy xo

  4. These look wonderful. Tree decorations went on sale here at the end of August. The Christmas ads are in full swing & John Lewis launched their 1 million pound ad this week, always the precursor to Christmas. It’s upon us!! GG

  5. Oh they really are beautiful!!!
I can’t believe Christmas is so close :0 Seriously crazy!

  6. What a lovely surprise, I only buy good quality advent calendars too, the others are just not worth it! Here in Toronto, radio stations follow an unwritten rule that they can’t play Christmas music until after the Santa Claus parade. There’s one station that plays only Christmas music after that date! This year it’s December 15.

  7. What a clever idea for an advent calendar, but seriously I would want to put the box on display. They are too beautiful to eat.

  8. How beautiful – this is an advent calendar with style! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such carefully crafted chocolate decorations.

  9. Lovely.
I would devour every single one before I should!!! xx
    I LOOOOOOOOOOOve Christmas!

  10. Christmas music in November is annoying to me too… but thanks for the reminder, Charlie, that it’s so close. Love those chocolates, how very sweet.

  11. I love their chocolates. A neighbour used to work for them, so our Christmas time was always delectable chocolate treats. Good stuff indeed.

  12. My family would LOVE a chocolate advent calendar! It’s so unique and festive! When we were in Chicago this weekend, Macy’s was fully decorated for the holidays AND blasting Christmas music. Crazy!! xo
P.S. I have a friend who moved to the states from Australia and she finds all our desserts too sweet. I love sweetened coconut, but your taste buds might find it to be a bit much.

  13. what pretty chocs! I am also stunned that Xmas is so soon – I still have Miss9’s bday and bday party to deal with before I can even think of Chrissy 🙂

  14. I’m not thinking Christmas yet. First, we have Thanksgiving Day here in America. But Christmas merchandise, much to my dismay, is already appearing in stores.

I do love that chocolate Advent calendar.

  15. I finally “did the math” this week and it hit me like a ton of bricks that Christmas is looming! And that’s how I feel…it’s looming. I’m a bit overwhelmed. As you know, we have Thanksgiving in just a couple of weeks and that’s such a “big occasion” in my family that by the time I get through that I’m not sure I’m up to all that is required of me at Christmas. I’d better sit down and give myself a pep talk! 🙂 These chocolates are so special and somehow anticipating such a beautiful way to anticipate the final countdown might make it a little easier to accept the pressures of the season.

  16. these are just so gorgeous charlie. what a beautiful idea for a Xmas gift. mm i will have to leave some hints for hubby.

  17. At this point in time I’m not preparing for Christmas at all! But I’m quite sure those chocolates would get me in the mood – they are lovely!

  18. Hoping they send to NZ or if I can find something here like that…. Christmas I will start getting ready soon, then bang boxing day it all comes down lol. My OCD is like that 🙂

  19. Rebecca’s packaging and design is so lovely as is she. I think I have a box winging its way to me. I can’t wait to see them up close!

  20. These chocolates are just gorgeous and perfect for Christmas if you’re looking for something a little different and unique! x

  21. They are so lovely Charlie. It’s great to support such a local and truly unique business. I love how you prepare for Christmas and all of your traditions. Christmas always pounces on me right at the last minute after I have managed to hound people to buy Christmas food since August. I am always exhausted before I begin.

  22. I can’t believe how fast the year has flown! And these chocolates look far too pretty to eat!

  23. Can’t believe Christmas is almost here. Seems like summer just got started and now it’s gone. Love this calendar, what a fun way to count down the days.

  24. This calendar is really lovely (plus chocolate every day! – bonus).

  25. Hi Charlie, those chocolates look like works of art, what a nice surprise for you.

  26. I know what you mean! I am totally ready for Christmas right now!!! Those chocolates are so gorgeous <3

  27. They are truly beautiful chocolates. 🙂 I’m excited about Christmas this year too. I haven’t been for several years but somehow, this year is different. This morning I put up some ornaments and they make me happy. 🙂

  28. What a very nice thank you for a share!!!! Beautiful chocolates. Wish she were in my neighborhood. I’m trying desperately to put off all Christmas preparations until after Thanksgiving. It’s hard when the stores were decorating before Halloween.

  29. Wow – now that’s customer service! I’d go by and buy two Advent calendar from Coco Chocolate if they were here in Atlanta! The calendar is gorgeous BTW, Charlie! xx

  30. Christmas is already in FULL swing in my world, we set the work Christmas tree and over the weekend I going ALL out and turning my house into Santa land. Cant wait. We haven’t celebrated Christmas at home in nearly 15 years, so this year will be really special. 🙂 Love these choccies, not sure I’d be able to restrain myself to just have 1 day, especially with my strict eating program, if I was going to blow out, I’d have to do it in one hit. Haha… Christmas is gonna be fun this year. 🙂

  31. So old-fashioned…so appealing. I just bought some lovely Belgian chocolates for the holidays, but of course must buy them again as I have almost finished the whole box alone! Yikes!
